Presented at the Berlin Festival, Fig Trees is an original opera-documentary which tells the story of the twenty year fight by Tim McCaskell in Toronto and Zackie Achmat in South America: a fight to make medical treatment for Aids available to all those who suffer.
Fig Trees gets its idea from documentary material relating to the birth and development of the Treatment Action Campaign, and through the music of David Wall, gives life to a curious and suggestive operatic melodrama which mixes avant-garde and pop, Gertrude Stein and Michael Jackson, Santa Teresa d’Avila and Maria Callas.
A breathtaking short-circuit between fiction and reality which entertains and moves its audience. Go to official web site
