Three dancers, each one a different incarnation of feminine beauty, give life to powerful figures made of flesh, frailty, rawness and tenderness, in an intimate and empty space, surrounded by white curtains. On stage the bodies struggle between abandoning themselves to their desires and keeping them in check.
The force created by the dancers is so strong that the choreography reaches a point of true bodily ecstasy, and the audience remains amazed by the physical strength of the women. There is no solution: the women are condemned to perpetuate this conflict between attraction and sensuality, fame and success, reflection and internal peace. The cyclicity of their movements recreates the musical vortexes created by Arne Van Dongen, a composer who has previously worked with the choreographer. The electronic sounds include an organ, voices and ancient frames, and create a perfect parallel with the conflictual choreographical elements.
Co(te)lette, by the Dutch choreographer Ann Van den Broek won the prestigious Zwaan Award, “the most moving dance work of the theatrical season”.
