PERFORMING GENDER dance makes differences
Get ready for the second edition of Performing Gender – Dance makes differences, the European project promoted and wanted by Gender Bender to build a new model of training with young European dance professionals and to help them develop new forms of narration and representation of gender identities And LGBTQI.
The new edition involves 6 partners from 5 European countries. The leader is Gender Bender festival, produced by the Cassero LGBT Center, in partnership with Bassano del Grappa – Centro per la Scena Contemporanea, the City of Women festival in Ljubljana (Slovenia), the Boulevard Festival of s-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands ), Paso a 2 – Certamen Coreogràfico de Madrid (Spain), and Yorkshire Dance Center in Leeds (United Kingdom).
Performing Gender – Dance makes differences is one of the 13 Italian projects chosen by the European Commission to fund for the two-year period 2017-2019 under the Europa Creativa Award, which rewards the best European transnational cooperation projects in all fields of art.
Over the next two years, 5 dance makers, 5 dance playwrighters and 50 young dancers will be involved in an experiment of interaction and artistic collaboration. Dance makers will be confronted with a training program, both theoretical and physical, that will take place at various stages in the partner cities: Bologna, Bassano del Grappa, Ljubljana, s-Hertogenbosch, Madrid and Leeds.
During the second year of project each dance maker will lead a workshop for young dancers. The workshops will take place during the festival of the project partners and will end with an open event in the presence of an international group of potential producers.
